Dear all CSC Ph.D. students,
According to the notice of the China Scholarship Council (CSC), outstanding CSC Ph.D. students could apply for an extension for up to one academic year once during their study period to better complete their studies. In other words, Ph.D. students who have already applied for or received a scholarship extension for one year are not qualified to apply for an extension again. The requirements related to the scholarship extension of 2024 for Ph.D. students are notified as follows.
#1 Eligibility
Applications will be accepted only if all of the following three requirements are met at the same time:
(1)Ph.D. students whose scholarship will terminate in July 2024;
(2)Pass the Annual Review for 2024 (please refer to the notice of Annual Review for detailed information);
(3)Pass the graduation dissertation proposal and the mid-term evaluation as stipulated by the school (faculty) (if the mid-term evaluation is not offered, the related Ph.D. education requirements of the school (faculty) should be met).
#2 Application process
Use your CSC number to log in to https://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/ and complete the annual review before applying for the Ph.D. extension. Please also fill out the form Application for Extension of Scholarship for Chinese Government Scholarship Students. Please state your academic progress and the necessity of applying for the extension of your scholarship; please also submit the supporting documents of passing the graduation thesis proposal and the mid-term evaluation as stipulated by the school (faculty) or faculty. If you have published academic papers, please also submit scanned copies of the first page of the papers as other supporting materials. Both the online and email forms are equally important, those who failed to submit those two forms will be regarded as giving up the application for scholarship extension. Deadline:April 21, 2024.
Step 1: Use your CSC number to log in to the websitehttps://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn
Step 2: Click“博士生延期申请Scholarship Extension”;
Step 3: Click“新增Add” and fill out the form;
Step 4: Fill the form;
Step 5: Click“保存并提交Save and Submit”. The End.
#3 Extension Review Procedures
(1)Schools (Faculties) will assess the students' application forms, students' academic progress, study attitude, daily performance, and annual review results and submit copies of the approved application documents, school (faculty) opinion forms, graduation dissertation proposal form, and mid-term evaluation form to ISO.
(2)Then a university-level assessment will be conducted and the approved applications and supporting documents will be submitted to the CSC. Late applications will not be accepted under any circumstances. Ineligible or incomplete applications will not be accepted as well.
(3)The CSC will inform the final results of the extension to the students through ISO in August. If the extension is not approved, and students still want to complete their studies, they can study at their own expense with the approval of the school (faculty). Students need to afford the expenses of accommodation, living expenses, and insurance by themselves.
Note:
(1)Ph.D. students of Type A (whose dispatching authority is embassies, organizations, and institutions other than Northeast Normal University) are also required to contact the dispatching authorities for an approval letter.
(2)Type A Students (whose dispatching authority is embassies, organizations, and institutions other than Northeast Normal University) of Master, Bachelor, and Advanced Scholars whose scholarship will terminate in July 2024 and wish to apply for scholarship extension, please ask for the permission of the dispatching authorities.
