I. Qualifications
1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens.
2. Applicants should demonstrate a strong academic record, maintain good mental and physical health, and adhere to the laws and regulations of China.
3. Applicants should be under 40 and hold a master's degree or equivalent education.
4. For Chinese citizens who have emigrated abroad, applicants must hold a valid foreign passport or nationality certificate for at least four years and have a record of residing in a foreign country for more than two years within the last four years (before April 30, 2025). Based on entry and exit stamps, each year with nine months of foreign residence can be considered one year.
5. Language requirements:
1)For the Chinese-taught program: A score of HSK Level 5 with a minimum of 180 points. Those who have obtained a degree from a Chinese university using Chinese as the language of instruction are exempt from providing the HSK transcript.
2)For the English-taught program: TOEFL IBT 80, IELTS 6.0, or English as a native/official language or proof of having obtained a degree with English as the language of instruction.

III. Application Documents
Prepare the required documents, log into the NENU International Students Application System (http://studyatnenu.nenu.edu.cn), fill in your personal information in English or Chinese, and upload the required documents.
1. Copy of passport home page and Chinese visa pages (if any). Passports should be valid until September 2025.
2. A notarized copy of the highest diploma. Prospective diploma recipients must submit official proof of their current student status from their current school. Applicants must obtain the final diploma before September 2025. Any documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be accompanied by notarized Chinese or English translations.
3. Academic transcripts (from the undergraduate program onwards). Copies of academic records from the first to last semester during the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral program (if applicable) must be provided. These transcripts shall be issued and sealed by the attending university’s academic affairs office, graduate school, or student management department. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.
4. Language proficiency certificates. Applicants for Chinese-taught programs must submit a valid HSK 5 transcript. Those who have received a degree from a Chinese university using Chinese as the language of instruction must provide corresponding supporting documents. Applicants for English-taught programs must provide a TOEFL score of 80 or an IELTS score of 6.0 or above. If they have obtained a degree with English as the language of instruction, they must provide the corresponding supporting documents.
5. A study plan proposal. The study plan, written in either Chinese or English, should contain more than 1000 characters or words.
6. Recommendation letters. These letters, written either in Chinese or English, should be from professors or associate professors shall be submitted. The recommenders should sign the letters and include their identity and contact information. These letters should describe the applicant’s purpose in studying in China, their overall abilities, their potential for future growth, and any potential collaboration between supervisors or universities in China and abroad.
7. An art portfolio. Applicants applying for programs in art, design, and related fields must submit materials showcasing their personal work, such as videos, paintings, and other relevant examples.
8. A photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. The form is made by the Chinese quarantine authority and must be completed in English. The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the form. Incomplete records, those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. Please schedule the physical examination at an appropriate time, as the results are only valid for six months.
9. A non-criminal record report. Applicants should submit a valid certificate of a non-criminal record issued by the local public security authority, usually issued within six months before the submission date of the application.
10. Academic achievement materials, including published academic papers and proof of patents, if applicable.
11. Conditional Acceptance Letter from a professor (if available). Applicants may contact their intended supervisors to apply for the Conditional Acceptance Letter, though it is not mandatory.
12. Any other supporting documents required by the International Students Office.
Note: Uploaded supporting documents must be clear, authentic, and valid. Applicants are encouraged to use a professional device to scan the relevant documents. Applicants will be responsible for any consequences resulting from unclear or unidentifiable uploaded documents.

V. Application Procedures
1. Prepare the required documents, log into the NENU International Students Application System (http://studyatnenu.nenu.edu.cn), complete the online application in English or Chinese, upload the required documents, and pay the application fee (RMB 800 Yuan) online.
2. NENU will review the applicant’s academic background, language proficiency, and professional ability, and conduct an online interview based on merit. Interview notification will be sent via email, please pay attention to your email.
3. NENU will notify applicants of the final results by email before the end of July.
VI. Fees
1. Registration fee: RMB 800 Yuan
2. Tuition fee: Liberal Arts majors: RMB 22,000 Yuan/year
Science majors: RMB 29,000 Yuan/year
Art, P.E. majors: RMB 29,000 Yuan/year
3. Other fees:
1)Insurance fee: RMB 800 Yuan/year
2)Accommodation: RMB 40 Yuan/day (single room)
3) Meals: RMB 1000-1500 Yuan/month
VII. Scholarship
1. CSC Scholarship Bilateral Program (Type A)
Apply through the dispatching authorities in your home country, typically the local Chinese Embassy or Consulate. All doctoral majors are eligible to apply. If applicants do not meet language requirements, they have the option to apply for an additional one-year language learning course.
2. CSC Scholarship NENU “High-level Graduates” Program (Type B)
Apply to NENU directly and all doctoral majors are eligible to apply. If applicants choose a Chinese-taught program, they can apply for one year of Chinese language study if their language ability does not meet the requirements. 3. NENU President’s Scholarship for Outstanding International Students
To encourage international students to study diligently, maintain a positive attitude, enhance NENU’s reputation, and attract more outstanding international students, NENU has established the President’s Scholarship for Outstanding International Students. This scholarship provides full coverage and is comprehensively evaluated each year among the self-financed students who are eligible for enrollment. It is awarded based on academic achievement, language proficiency, comprehensive quality, development potential, and other aspects, and is granted on a merit basis.
VIII. Important Notes
1. Original application documents must be submitted during registration at NENU.
2. The application fee is non-refundable, regardless of whether you are accepted or not.
3. NENU may contact the applicants via email(admission@nenu.edu.cn) to request additional documents and inform them of the final results. Please ensure your contact email address is accurate.
4. Enrollment eligibility will not be reserved if a student fails to register before the registration deadline. Students cannot invite family members without permission from the hosting university.
5. All documents submitted must be accurate, complete, and truthful. NENU reserves the right to withdraw offers of admission or expel enrolled students in cases of inaccurate or incomplete documents.
