Safety Notice for Winter Vacation

I. Knowledge of Law

1. Foreigners who work in China illegally will be fined no less than RMB 5,000 but no more than RMB 20,000. In cases where circumstances are serious, they shall be detained for no less than five days but not more than fifteen days and shall also be fined no less than RMB 5,000 but no more than 20,000.

2. Please check your visa/residence permit. If the dates are nearing an end, make sure you go through visa/residence permit extension procedures at least one month before your visa/ residence permit expires. According to The Exit and Entry Administration Law of the People’s Republic of China, a student whose visa expires will be fined RMB 500 every day after the expiration date.

3. Students are forbidden to do missionary work or hold religious assemblies on campus. It is strictly forbidden to perform religious ceremonies in non-religious places. When students are conducting or joining in religious activities, students must follow Provisions in the Administration of Religious Activities of Aliens within the Territory of the People's Republic of China.

4. According to Chinese law, the use of drugs is illegal. Drug users will be detained for 10-15 days and fined RMB2000 at most.

5. In China, driving a motor vehicle without a Chinese driver’s license or driving an unlicensed motor vehicle will be fined anywhere from RMB 200 to RMB 2000 and detained for up to 15 days.

6. If you live in the hotel, the hotel will complete accommodation registration for you. If you live in any place other than a hotel, you should report to the local police station within 24 hours to complete accommodation registration. If you fail to register, according to Item 1, Article 76 of The Exit and Entry Administration Law of the People’s Republic of China, you will be given a warning and then be fined as much as RMB 2000.

7. All students should strictly abide by all the laws and regulations of China and the rules and regulations of NENU.

II. Fire Safety

1. Do not light fires in any room, not limited to but especially candles.

2. Remove all chargers and plugs in devices before leaving the room.

3. No smoking in the dormitories.

4. Please obey the dorm regulations. Electronic heating appliances, such as electric heaters, electric fans, or any inflammable and explosive materials, such as gas tanks, are forbidden in the dormitories.

5. Cooking appliances such as hotplates, micro-wave ovens, kerosene stoves and electric kettles as well as appliances like electric blankets and hair irons are strictly prohibited to use in the rooms. The kitchen is the only place allowed to use pre-approved cooking appliances

6. Do not leave the cooking appliances in the kitchen after use. Please pay attention to putting out any flames and turning off any electronic devices before leaving the kitchen.

7. Please operate the electrical appliances according to the product description.

8. Violation of the university's fire prevention-related regulations will result in a warning penalty and disqualification from any awards.

III.Personal Safety

1. Whether inside your room or not, please remember to lock the door.

2. Please follow the dormitory hours of operation. It is not allowed to have a guest overnight.

3. Please carry a copy of your passport and student ID with you at all times.

4. When traveling off-campus, please take care of your personal belongings. Do not put your cellphone, wallet, or precious belongings in your jacket pocket.

IV. Information Safety

1. If you receive a call from a stranger, please do not tell him or her any of your personal information. Please be aware of telecommunication fraud.

2. Never open junk emails, especially emails with website links.

3. Please do not post your personal information on SNS.

4. Please buy products from verified websites or sellers.

5. Do not scan uncertain QR Codes, and do not join uncertain WeChat Groups especially when you are asked by strangers.

6. Please learn to identify the authenticity of messages, and don't post unconfirmed messages in WeChat. The Internet is not a lawless place, and spreading rumors will be punished by law.

V. Travel Safety

1. Please abide by all traffic regulations and pay close attention to traffic safety. Riding motorcycles is not permitted. You can not be over-speed or overloaded when you ride battery-operated vehicles and wear a helmet. If riding a bicycle, do not go against traffic or run red lights.

2. Do not stay near dangerous waters or enter frozen rivers, reservoirs and other areas.

3. Avoid extreme weather such as low temperature, snowing and freezing, and remember to keep warm. When traveling by motor vehicle, fasten your seat belt and apply non-skid device when necessary.

4. Tourists should carefully participate in high-risk amusements, including aerial, high-speed, diving, exploration, etc. Choose your amusement according to age and health condition.

VI. Precautions for Personal Protection

1. Wear masks, wash your hands, disinfect frequently and keep your room well-ventilated. Drink plenty of water every day, eat a light diet and do reasonable physical exercise.

2. You should get permission from your school and report to ISO before leaving Changchun.
