Visa

Visa management is one of the major liability of International Students Office, Departments of International Cooperation and Exchange (short for ISO). ISO offers counseling service for handling all kinds of visa procedures and provides correlative official letters. When each semester starts, ISO handles all kinds of visa procedures for all international students. International students must obey the Law on the Entry and Exit of Aliens of the People’s Republic of China during their study in PRC, and tackle procedures for their entry, residence, change, transfer and exit according to NENU’S regulations.

I. Residence permit

New comers need to go to NENU withX1visaorX2visa from at September 1st, 2013. Students withX1visa need to get their residence permit organized by ISO within 30 days from the date of their arrival in NENU. The validity date of visa is 180 days. When visa expires, international students who decide to continue their study in NENU can only get one chance to extend their visas and are only given 180-day residence duration. In principle, holders of other visas are not allowed to extend the duration of residence permit. International students who decide to extend the duration of residence need to apply for it in ISO one month before the expiration date. International students who decide to extend the duration of residence permit must have the health examination in Changchun International Travel Health Care Center. And students are free from some health examination procedures if the recently original examination reports they get from the state-owned hospitals of their own countries are verified and recognized.

II. Transfer (transfer to another school)

International students must tackle the transfer procedure in ISO if they want to apply for transfer during their study in NENU. And then they need to tackle the visa transfer procedure in Public Security Bureau by taking the letter of the transfer introduction provided by ISO and their own passports.

III. Exit (quit school)

International students must tackle the dropout procedure in ISO if they want to apply for quitting school during their study in NENU. Applicants need to tackle the visa change procedure in Public Security Bureau by taking the letter of introduction provided by ISO and their own passports. And then exit within the validity date of visa.

IV. Round-trip procedure

International students need to handle procedures in the correlative departments by taking the letter of introduction and their own passports when they go to Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan or other countries during their holidays.

V. Passport loss

International students should report to ISO timely when losing their passports and get the passport loss statement in Changchun City Public Security Bureau. And then go to apply for a new passport in embassies (consulates) of their countries in China.

As for foreigners, visa is a proof of identity during their legal stay in China. Foreigners who still stay China with their expired visas are illegal and they will be punished by being fined or expelled from China. Here are the punishment rules: foreigners will be fined 500RMB with their visas one day beyond the validity date and the fine will be based on the accumulative days. They will be expelled from China if the circumstances are serious.

All international students need to tackle the visa procedure in ISO within its validity date.
